Woman dies in Kano blast

ONE woman was confirmed dead and eight others sustained various degrees of injury in a bomb blast in the New Road Motor Park, Kano.

The bomb was said to have been concealed in a refrigerator that was among other loads to be carried by luxury buses waiting for passengers. When the refrigerator was about to be loaded it went off, killing one woman instantly. The bus was billed to travel to Port Harcourt, Rivers before the incidence happened.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, who spoke to journalists at the scene of the blast said the injured persons have been taken to Abdullahi Wase Specialists hospital.
“It was in the afternoon hours when we got information of what has happened. We immediately mobilized our men. As you can see it yourselves, apart from the death of the innocent woman and the other eight that were injured, some item loaded in the bus got damaged,” Shinaba said.
The injuries sustained, according to the police commissioner, were not life threatening. He said doctors were mobilized to the hospital to attend to the victims.
