A 16-Year-Old Boy In Hawaii Just Caught The Biggest Fish You’ve Ever Seen
The struggle between humankind and nature rages on, but one teen visiting Hawaii just scored a big point for humanity when he reeled in a thousand-pound blue marlin.
Yes, you read that right: a thousand. More than a thousand, actually.
Kai Rizzuto, 16, spent a good 30 minutes struggling with the behemoth on the Kona coast. His fight paid off: The fish ended up weighing in at 1,058 pounds, and measured 11 feet from jaw to tail.
“It was a 30-minute fight. I’ll tell you it was the hardest 30 minutes I’ve ever fought a fish,”Rizzuto told Hawaii News Now. “When I saw that fish at the end of line I was just thinking, don’t break off. Do not break off.”
The hard work was worth it, as Rizzuto is believed to be the youngest angler ever to catch a “grander” off of the Kona coast. He shared his good fortune with locals, who cooked and ate the giant fish.
