7 Signs You May Have a Vitamin D Deficiency
We all know the natural source of Vitamin D is from sunlight, while it is not a regular vitamin that can be obtained elsewhere, very few foods are fortified with this vitamin so we don’t always have enough and we can’t be sure if we are vitamin D deficient. The only way to test for this deficiency is via blood test.
Below are signs and symptoms of being vitamin D deficient:
1.Darker Skin
Due to our dark skin, we can’t easily determine if we are getting darker as a result of harsh environmental conditions or not because it takes dark skin people 10 times more sun exposure than a person with light skin to produce same amount of vitamin D.
2. You are depressed
Serotonin is a brain hormone responsible for mood elevation and depression. It increases with exposure to light and decreases with lack of sun exposure.
3. You getting old
As you grow older, your skin doesn’t produce as much vitamin D as it used to and kidney used for converting vitamin D becomes less efficient due to more indoor activities engaged in by old people (lack of sun exposure).
4. Fatigue
5.General muscle pain, joint pain, muscle cramps aches and weakness
6. Obesity
7. Sweaty palms and sweat on forehead
As a result of its deficiency, these are some of the commonly related diseases to Vitamin D deficiency:
1. Cancer
2. Rhuematoid arthritis
3. Multiple Sclerosis
4. Autoimmune diseases
5. Parkinson’s disease
6. Infertility
7. Gout
